Shot Column Height

The distance from the base of the shot column nearest to the crimp. A shot column where this distance is large is said to be “tall” (e.g. a heavy .410 load in a 3″ case) whereas a shot column with a short distance between wad and crimp is said to be “short” (e.g. a ¾oz load in a 10-gauge).
